2026 BACKYARD ULTRA
WORLD TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

15 RUNNERS. ONE TEAM.

One start. 70+ countries. One global Backyard Ultra.

On Saturday 17 October 2026, Team Australia will join runners worldwide as the 2026 Backyard Ultra World Team Championships begin simultaneously across the globe.

Australia starts at 11:00 pm AEST.

One loop every hour. For as long as they can.

WHAT ARE THE BACKYARD ULTRA WORLD TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS?

WHAT ARE THE BACKYARD ULTRA WORLD TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS?

The 2026 Backyard Ultra World Team Championships bring together the best Backyard Ultra runners from around the world in one truly global event.

70+ countries will compete at the same time, with each country’s top 15 runners representing their nation on their own Backyard Ultra course.

Runners must complete a 6.706 km loop on the hour, every hour. There is no set finish time. No set number of loops. They keep going until only one runner remains.

Every loop completed by each country’s 15 runners contributes to their national total, with the country recording the most combined loops crowned the 2026 Backyard Ultra World Team Champion.

15 RUNNERS. 1 TEAM.

15 RUNNERS. 1 TEAM.

These 15 runners have earned their place on Team Australia and will take on the world together at the 2026 Backyard Ultra World Team Championships.

Each brings their own experience, strengths and story to the team. But when the clock starts, they will share the same goal: to keep moving, keep backing each other and see just how far Australia can go.

1 runner can go far. 15 runners can go further. Together, they represent Team Australia.
